Pittsburgh to DC: 4 friends, 300 miles, 2 days! September 2013
The inaugural Pump House to Tree House Relay will offer cyclists of all levels the opportunity to ride two of America’s most scenic bike routes in one short weekend. The unique team-relay format allows riders to cover more ground than a traditional weekend ride. The Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Towpath take riders from Pittsburgh to the Nation’s capital via a gently sloping crushed gravel trail completely closed to automotive traffic. The route offers tremendous beau colic vistas of rural Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland, as well as passing through some of America's great small towns. Join us for two amazing days of riding including an overnight stop in historic Cumberland for some down home BBQ, live music, and of course cold beers. If you have always dreamed of completing this legendary ride, the PH2TH is your perfect opportunity.
The ride will directly benefit the Tree House. The Tree House Child Assessment Center is Montgomery County’s only victim focused program for cases of child abuse and neglect, especially sexual abuse. Children who come to the Tree House receive quality medical care and assessments of their injuries, victim assistance and support services, and much needed therapy to reduce the impact of their trauma, and to recover and thrive. All services of the Tree House are provided regardless of the ability to pay.
